Cindependent Film Festival

You are cordially invited to join us for our second year in The Cindependent Film Festival, Cincinnati’s only multi-purpose, multi-genre film festival for professionals and community members.

The 2019 Festival will screen in the historic 1920s Woodward Theater, which was originally built as a silent movie house. This concert venue will be re-configured to accommodate our audiences and feature top of the line sound and video equipment. We also have additional locations to accommodate our screenplay reads, filmmaker lounge, and masterclasses.

We cultivate the entrepenuerial spirt of filmmaking through fantastic screenings, monetary and non-monetary awards, VIP and networking parties, live entertainment, filmmaker Q&As, live screenplay readings, and hosting artists from all over Ohio, the US, and the world.

Tickets and passes for this event are not yet on sale. Please check back later for full festival line-up, schedule, and details.

Feature Screening: Ginger
Aug
31
8:00 PM20:00

Feature Screening: Ginger

Catch this special feature screening of GINGER, along with the short music video, ‘BIRTHDAY’ for a special Saturday evening.

Like it is for many millennials, the future seems uncertain to recent college graduate Ginger Mathis. Her English Lit degree hasn’t exactly scored her a publishing deal, and her part-time job isn’t going to pay those student loans (or get her pushy mother off her back.) The only thing Ginger knows for sure is that she doesn’t have a clue what to do about any of it. Getting diagnosed with breast cancer certainly doesn’t ease that anxiety.

Perhaps dating and chemo go together like cool-mint toothpaste and an orange juice chaser on a hung over Monday morning, but that doesn’t stop her from trying. Denial is one of her greatest strengths, next to avoidance. Perhaps a maladaptive trait left over from childhood. It came in handy when dealing with uncomfortable truths, and paternal abandonment, but its counterproductive to adult reality. Like accepting that she’s going to lose her signature red hair, and that maybe she needs a double mastectomy.

Runtime: 01:21:24
Advisory Warning: This block includes themes of death, terminal disease and some sexual situations.
Tickets: Single screen tickets are $10, and available online or at the box-office until sold out. This screening is included in any VIP, 3-Day, or Day Pass holders. Tickets are available here: https://www.cincyticket.com/orderticketsarea.asp?p=7837&a=924&src=eventperformances&_ga=GA1.2.2105958691.1563135033

Heyman Talent Casting Call

Audition for The Cindependent Film Festival for the opportunity to be seen by screenwriters, directors, producers, and filmmakers.

The Screenplay Speakeasy is an integral portion of the festival where we feature new, original work from screenwriters during the 2019 fest. Performers will be assigned roles during the festival, and asked to live table-read at Know Theatre of Cincinnati each day of the festival (Thursday, Friday, Saturday 2-4pm.) Many performers from the 2018 festival ultimately were cast in films that were in development at that time - we hope this happens for you, too!

To audition: please prepare a maximum 2 minute monologe that you enjoy! We are open to all genres and tones. We will also have you read a side during the audition. We are casting for all roles, ages, genders, and ethnicities. Please bring a headshot with you to the audition.

This is a trade opportunity. Performers will receive 2 VIP passes to the festival (valued $520.) VIP passes include access to all locations, parties, after-parties, the Filmmaker Lounge, priority seating at The Woodward, as well as some complimentary coffee, lunch, and alcoholic beverages in some locations.

Opening Night Film Competition

The Opening Night Film Competition is a 'pitch-to-produced' film competition wherein one filmmaker will win the prize of having their story produced into a short film by Drive Media House, located in Cincinnati, Ohio! The final winner will work with Drive Media House in summer 2019 to produce the Opening Night Film for Cincinnati's Cindependent Film Festival.

Pitches are accepted from nationally and internationally, and submitter does not need to be local to Cincinnati to pitch and submit.

Pitch videos can be as simple as recording yourself making the pitch, or can be more complex and creative - it is up to you! Pitch videos must be in English, and no more than 3 minutes in length. They also must outline concept, story, feasibility, anticipated budget, and demonstrate why this story would make an amazing Opening Night Film.

Pitches should be about stories that could be filmed in 1-2 days with few characters (recommended 3-4 max,) with an anticipated run time of 2-8 minutes including credits.
