Matthew grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, attended
NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and currently resides in Brooklyn. His short film Dirty premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, received a Special Jury Mention at SXSW and was acquired by the Criterion Channel. His previous short film, Lavender, also screened at Sundance and SXSW and was acquired by Searchlight Pictures. Matthew is a former Sundance Ignite fellow, member of the New York Film Festival Artist Academy and recipient of the SFFILM Rainin Grant. He was selected as one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film and participated in the 2025 Torino ScriptLab with his feature film Hearth. He is currently developing several feature films.
